About
The Souderton Pool provides positive, affordable and accessible activities. For those who use the pool it teaches skill, provides jobs, offers a wholesome family activity for any age, provides the facility to maintain and improve health, and contributes to an overall quality of life.
Those who don't use the pool still benefit from boosted property values, attraction and retention of residents, and by enjoying a community whose well-being and safety the pool helps to craft. For the individual the pool builds character, for the area the pool builds community.
The pool needs to be renovated. Souderton borough has applied for at least four state grants, and they YMCA is raising money through increased membership fees and by fundraisers planned throughout the summer. Additional fundraising strategies are afoot, and the Souderton borough welcomes resident input and suggestions.
The Souderton Borough website quotes Mike Coll as saying, "We need the community to get behind the pool, just like it did in the 1950s when it was originally built."
Let's show our support! Hang a poster in your window, attend a fundraiser, attend borough council meetings when the pool is on the agenda and encourage others to do the same. Tell your councilors you want the pool. The borough welcomes community involvement and ideas: share your thoughts!
Since 1928 the pool has been a fixture of the community. It has fostered generations of good fun and its presence is woven into the fabric of the community's identity. Let's offer our children and grandchildren the same opportunities that we enjoyed, let's keep the renovation fiscally responsible for the community, let's save the Souderton Pool.
